6.1 Influence of construction parameters

Cavitation in centrifugal pumps is very similar in nature to that found in the pumps we've already looked at. It first appears in low-pressure areas: at the leading edge of the vane on the suction side. As the inlet pressure decreases, the vapour pocket progressively extends downstream, as shown in figure 32 , and in different ways depending on the flow rate, due to the variation in incidence at the leading edge of the blades.
