9. Conclusion

Section 1, dedicated to dihydrogen, provided an update on the state of the art, and outlined the molecule's potential applications. It emphasized the molecule's hazardous and explosive properties, which must be kept under control. A panorama of hydrogen-powered machines was developed, distinguishing between the specific operation of hydrogen fuel cells and piston engines on the one hand, and highlighting some of the early-stage research on hydrogen on the other.

Section 2 is dedicated to innovation and progress in the maritime and inland waterway sectors, with a reminder of recent new regulations. Mention is made of the holistic approach that is now one of the major conditions for optimizing the overall operation of maritime and inland waterway transport. We conclude with a few perspectives on early-stage innovations.
