4. Taking material plasticity into account

4.1 General

As we've already mentioned on several occasions, plasticization of the material is of the utmost importance in the operation of the clutch mechanism. In the case of stabilized diaphragms, this occurs during manufacture, and in the case of non-stabilized diaphragms, during the first period of operation.

Less visible, but just as important, is the plasticization caused by shot-peening.

Clearly, in these circumstances, it is impossible to ignore material plasticization in the process of calculating and dimensioning a new mechanism.
