ALE ( Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian)

A mesh that exploits the advantages of both Lagrangian and Eulerian descriptions, while limiting their disadvantages. The Eulerian description can be used to study fluid flows at a fixed point in space. The Lagrangian description is used to study the movement of structures at a point that follows their displacement. A Lagrangian mesh adapts to the movement – and can sometimes undergo such deformations that it is no longer possible to calculate! An Eulerian mesh is fixed; its ability to describe a sometimes highly complex motion is limited.
