3. Antifriction materials for dry-running (M1)
3.1 Material structure
These antifriction materials always include a solid lubricant phase, which may in some cases constitute the material itself.
The structure and mechanical properties of solid lubricants generally preclude the use of these materials without the addition of another stiffening material. Depending on the type of additive material used, preference is given to the wear, fatigue or mechanical strength behavior of the assembly, depending on the requirements of the antifriction material. Typically, these materials take one of the following forms.
