6. Materials for special conditions

In addition to the various types of operation described above, there are specific applications that require special attention. The following are just a few examples.

6.1 Vacuum applications

In most cases, operating a vacuum bearing means that there is no liquid, and therefore no hydrodynamic regime, and no liquid or semi-fluid lubricant such as grease. The solution is therefore to use solid lubricants, the main constituents of which are PTFE, graphite and molybdenum disulfide 1.5.2.2
