4. Lifespan

The service life of a bearing is defined as the number of millions of revolutions it can perform under a given load before the first sign of spalling appears. Generally, spalling first appears on the raceways.

4.1 Calculation of nominal duration

The NF ISO 281 standard provides the formula for the nominal life L 10 , which can be used to calculate the service life of roller bearings:
