2.1 Modeling assumptions
In this section, we focus on numerical methods applicable to the solution of a coupled fluid/structure problem in the case of a stagnant fluid. The framework of analysis is that of the vibrations of the structure and the fluid; for the fluid, we are interested in the propagation of waves resulting from the effects of gravity (in low frequency) or compressibility (in high frequency). The state of the coupled system is described by the displacement field in the structure domain and the pressure field in the fluid domain.
