4. Copper and copper alloys

  • Conventional designation (according to former French standards)

    • For refined copper (at least 99.85% copper), the grade is indicated by :

      • the letters Cu, followed by the words :

        • a1 (a2, a3) for oxygen-containing copper,

        • b1 (b2, b3) for deoxidized copper with residual deoxidizer,

        • c1 (c2, c3) for deoxidized copper without residual deoxidizer.

    • For copper alloys, the designation includes the symbol Cu, followed by the chemical symbols of the alloying elements, each followed by its percentage content.
