12. Conclusion

This initial phase of understanding the basic equations of EN 1591, based on document CR 13642, did not reveal any problems fundamentally calling into question EN 1591 as a whole. It showed that most of the problems concerned the consideration of joint behavior:

  • modeling choices ;

  • inconsistency of coefficients between EN 1591 and the draft test standard Pr EN 13555 ;

  • stress homogeneity ;

  • definition of a C 1 coefficient for which no value is provided, etc.

A parametric study applied to these coefficients, describing the behavior of the joint, would provide a better understanding of their influence on the calculation results.
