2. Preliminaries to monitoring

Before carrying out the measurements on the machines, it is essential to carefully prepare the route according to your objectives. This should result in :

  • a choice of machines to be monitored ;

  • precise knowledge of these machines;

  • a choice of the number and location of measurements carried out on each machine.

In order to avoid unnecessary monitoring of machines that are not of vital importance, manufacturers often establish the following classification:
