5. Conclusion

The complexity of a welding operation, combined with the constant evolution of metallic materials and joining techniques, means that the task of the designer of welded structural elements requires in-depth knowledge in a variety of interacting fields. Over time, however, this task has been made easier thanks to a constant flow of standards documents, which provide a technical guide and a guarantee of the quality of a welded structure within the framework of a construction contract.
