Cryogenics; cryogeny

The study of low temperatures, below – 150°C. The limit of – 153.15°C represents the limit above which air gases liquefy.

Residual stress

Residual stress field in a part subjected to no external load (thermal or mechanical). Residual stresses are self-balancing static multiaxial stresses.

Normo mètre cube (or normal cubic metres); normal cubic meter (Nm 3 )

Quantity of gas contained in a cubic meter, under normal temperature and pressure conditions, i.e. a pressure of 101,300 Pa (normal atmospheric pressure) and a temperature of 0°C (DIN 1343) or 15°C (ISO 2533).
