4. Setting parameters

Once the tooling has been set up, the stamping operation is set up by selecting a small number of parameters.

  • Speed

    Directly affecting the thermal regime of the tool, the reduction in cadence improves the quality of difficult parts; it is usually between 10 and 20 strokes/min.

    It should be noted that, in the case of mechanical presses, the reduction in output does not change the stamping cycle, which is determined by the press's kinematic elements (connecting rod length in particular). As a result, there can be no change in deformation speeds or forming force holding times.
