4.1 Conclusion on the example

Machining modeling remains a very tricky field to implement, due to the large deformations and high deformation speeds involved in cutting. The model presented in this study is very local and required several assumptions to achieve results in a reasonable time (between 0.5 and 2 h of calculation per configuration on a PC with a dual-core processor each running at 1.87 GHz).

It is important to note, however, that all this data is realistic. In fact, within the chosen operating ranges (corresponding to the operating point of the cutting edge chipbreaker), the difference between the experimental and simulation results is between 5 and 10%.
