A distinction can be made between data relating to the geometry of the problem (mesh size), the equations to be solved (depending on the physical mechanisms involved) and the characteristics of the materials required for the calculation. The parameters of the numerical calculation as such (time steps, convergence criteria, etc.) are not dealt with here, as their definition is not specific to the case of welding.
2.1 Geometry
