11. Bimaterial sheets

These are products designed to meet complex needs, which can be :

  • protect the inner element from harmful aggression;

  • give the assembly special properties (soundproofing, impact resistance, rigidity).

11.1 Multilayer metal sheets

Here are two well-known examples:

  • colaminated or explosively clad sheet metal, in which a core usually designed to impart strength (carbon or alloy steel) is covered by a stainless steel cladding designed to protect against highly aggressive environments.
