Found are definitions of the sheets mechanical characteristics as well as their influence upon formability. Also are given technical terms concerning tools and presses used, some about sheet metal deformation modes and the different forming processes, lubrication and defects resulting from stamping.

This glossary brings together the main technical terms and expressions used in sheet metal forming, describing the concepts, methods, tools and processes used in the field to :

  • their deformation modes, which condition their local properties;

  • terms corresponding to the stamping presses and tools used;

  • the various existing techniques and their derivatives;

  • terms corresponding to the problems of friction and lubrication ;

  • terms designating typical defects occurring in the field in question.
