1. Characteristics and uses of the coated electrode process

1.1 Type of manufacture

Covered electrode welding is a manual welding process. It can be found in workshops as well as on construction sites. It's a process that can be found both in the hands of a DIY enthusiast and on a site manufacturing heavy components for the nuclear industry. As a result, this process is used for applications that can be described as light, such as light industrial maintenance, repair or DIY, but also for more intensive applications such as pipe or pipeline jointing for the oil, chemical or nuclear industries, shipbuilding...

This process is also used to carry out resurfacing operations on small surfaces or areas that are difficult to access.
