2. Welding equipment

The equipment required for coated electrode welding is relatively simple and includes :

  • a welding generator which transforms the mains current (high AC voltage and low current) into a current suitable for welding (low DC or AC voltage and high current);

  • a current supply cable terminated by an electrode gripper;

  • a ground cable terminated by a ground clamp.

To this equipment must be added: electrodes, a hammer for pitting the slag, a wire brush for cleaning the weld bead and the welder's personal protective equipment (PPE) (§ 6
