2.1 Pharmacokinetics of nanoparticles
After administration into the bloodstream, the nanoparticles circulate in the bloodstream. The first step, which takes place in the very first seconds of contact with the blood, is the formation of a crown of blood proteins adsorbed onto the surface of the nanoparticle. Numerous publications show that this crown has a significant impact on the fate of nanoparticles in the body. Thus, the nanoparticle takes on a biological identity in addition to its physicochemical identity. The design of nanoparticles must take into account their reaction to this protein adsorption in order to ensure control of their performance. As explained in the table
