 INTRODUCTION

Research on carbon nanotubes is now sufficiently advanced to stand as a specialty in its own right within the vast and new field of nanoscience, yet at the same time it is still relatively recent –, having emerged just over a decade ago–, with major challenges still ahead. Numerous applications for carbon nanotubes are being considered, and some are already under investigation.
