 INTRODUCTION

The fundamental laws governing heat transfer taught to engineers have been known since the nineteenth century. In recent years, the ability to measure phenomena at the submicron scale has revealed new behaviors that do not follow these laws. In this dossier, we present the limits of the laws usually used to describe conduction, convection and radiation, describe the phenomena observed at nanometric scales and present some of the applications.
