4. Compact or integrated loop architecture

Numerous arrangements of the reactor and its equipment were studied to achieve the best possible positioning of the reactor in the ship. Three families have emerged.

4.1 Loop reactor

In the loop reactor (Figures 1 , 2 and 3 ), the main pressure vessels are mechanically independent, each being rigidly fixed to the support structure. They are interconnected by thin tubes, flexible enough to absorb expansion....
