5. Convective boiling in mini- and microchannels

The breakthrough of microheat exchangers in recent years, and the explosion of studies and research into convective boiling in microchannels and minichannels, is mainly due to the many advantages of these systems ( [IN 3] Microheat exchangers). With their low mass and volume, they can be used wherever space and mass constraints are important. Because of the small size of the channels, the quantity of circulating fluid is very low, making them interesting when these fluids are toxic, harmful to the environment or simply expensive. Minimizing the amount of material also means they have a low response time. Micro-exchangers also greatly increase the exchange surface area for a given volume. On the other hand, they introduce high pressure drops and require the use of very pure fluids to avoid fouling.
