4. Select the system's hydraulic diagram

Two types of geothermal systems are possible.

4.1 Groundwater geothermal energy

The process involves recovering the energy stored in groundwater aquifers using a heat exchanger and then reinjecting the extracted water back into its natural environment after it has passed through the heat exchanger, thereby ensuring the sustainability of the resource.

To achieve this, a pair of interconnected boreholes (a geothermal well pair) is installed. One is used to extract the geothermal fluid, while the other is used to reinject the fluid into the aquifer, the location containing the original groundwater.
