3. Identify technologies for recovering waste heat

Selecting recovery technologies requires knowledge of the following parameters:

  • temperature of heat sources (hot and cold sources) ;

  • thermal power ;

  • fluids.

Various technical solutions are available.

3.1 High-temperature heat pump

  • Function: to capture thermal energy (waste heat) from the cold source and convert this energy into a compression or sorption cycle, enabling the hot source to be reheated.

  • Limit of use conditions: cold source <80°C - hot source <130°C.

  • Performance criterion: COP, coefficient of performance...
