2.1 Single-stage cycle

In the case of the NH ₃ -H ₂ O couple, manufacturers no longer speak of single-effect cycles as in the case of water-lithium bromide cycles, but of single-stage cycles. The single-stage cycle comprises two pressure levels (figure 1 ):

• a low-pressure (LP) level comprising the evaporator and the absorber;

• a high-pressure (HP) level comprising the desorber, the rectification column and the condenser.
