Automatic operation of a pumping station requires either an open reservoir or a closed reservoir.
3.1 Open-air attic storage tanks
The attic storage tank solution (figure 6 ) is simple, but has a number of drawbacks: risk of water pollution, hot water in summer, risk of freezing in winter, the need to fit a float switch with its own electrical line to control the pump, and to install a network of up, down and overflow pipes, not to mention the ever-present dangers of a possible leak.
