5. Wire assemblies
This involves assembling parts parallel to their long axis (water jet, beating attachment, two-part support part...).
The traditional dovetail joint (figure 10 a) (groove with angled edges (approx. 45˚) converging above the groove) into which a male profile is inserted by translation. Gluing is carried out prior to assembly. By its very nature, this type of connection is not watertight. It can therefore only be used for accessory parts (e.g. water jets, Fig. 10 a, b), especially as its mechanical strength is low.
The most satisfactory technique is the "tongue-and-groove" assembly (Fig. 10 b): the profile insert is positioned in a groove on the main profile and secured by gluing and screwing. In some cases, caulking may be used instead of gluing (see figures 11 a, b for beading).
