INTRODUCTION
Windows and exterior doors contribute to the building's enclosure. They do so through their walls and the connection between sash and frame.
Opaque walls provide complete privacy, or transparent (glazed) walls, partial privacy. These walls need a frame to support them, and act as filling elements. Enclosure performance (wind resistance, thermal insulation, acoustic insulation) is all the better when the infill is chosen to suit the need, and implemented appropriately.
The performance of the sash/frame connection has been greatly improved by the use of sealing profiles. Good structural performance depends on the performance of the sealing profiles and their durability. They must therefore be evaluated.
