3.1 Context

Cracking is the main factor in the non-linear behavior of reinforced concrete structures.

Consideration of cracking is particularly important in the case of structural elements used in the nuclear industry, such as reinforced concrete walls.

The use of non-linear behavior laws is becoming essential, as it is necessary to assess the load-bearing capacity of these elements beyond their design level, with a view to estimating safety margins in order to reaffirm their compliance with the normative requirements defined by the public authorities.
