ABSTRACT

The last stage in a concrete operation is to give to the concrete surfaces a consistent finish in adequation with specifications.

Three criteria are used : flatness of surfaces, textures and tints and they are expressed in reference to a well known text : FD P 18-503. Surface defects are also presented and the way to prevent or treat them.

The last and fifth section, devoted to the use of concrete, deals with the problems of demolding and protecting concrete walls.

The appearance and assessment of surface characteristics of unfinished facings are then developed, with the necessary cross-references to previous chapters to ensure the best quality appearance.

Lastly, we look at the different surface finishes that can be used to create animated effects to meet various architectural requirements.
