7. Conclusion

Pouring fresh concrete against existing hardened concrete is a common operation in building construction and civil engineering. It is an application that is encountered at every construction joint. Based on this principle, reinforcement with layers of concrete has been gaining importance in recent years due to the growing need for rehabilitation and renovation of existing structures.

Of course, when designing these structural elements, the transfer of internal forces across the transfer surface (the interface between the new and old concrete) is a critical factor in the dimensioning process.
