5. All-water tanks for very small communities

5.1 Principle and design

  • Principle

    For very small facilities (less than or equal to 200 p.e.), the use of an all-water tank (figure 19 ) remains a best practice among others.

    This type of pit collects all domestic wastewater, including that from showers and household activities such as cooking and laundry. Rainwater, on the other hand, should not be connected to this system. Their highly variable volume would cause malfunctions.

    The all-water tank provides preliminary treatment, not the first stage of treatment.
