5. Technical area

5.1 Tower and technical block

The layout of this building is generally dictated by that of the control tower and its lookout, the "eye" of the airfield. The layout of the lookout depends on strict visibility "rules". It is recommended that controllers have excellent visibility of the runway, parking areas and taxiways, approaches and runway turns. Depending on the situation, full or optimum visibility is required (masks tolerated). Masks may be caused by buildings, obstacles (natural terrain or trees) or the structure of the lookout.
