 INTRODUCTION

The data used as a basis for drawing up an aerodrome construction or extension project are :

  • traffic forecasts ;

  • the physical characteristics of the site chosen or imposed by local conditions;

  • the human characteristics of this site.

The designer will have to establish his project by making compromises, for each element of the infrastructure, between the needs due to foreseeable traffic, the physical conditions of the site, the problems of integration into the environment and the financial cost of the planned works and their operation.

This article is the third in a series of documents devoted to aerodromes, to which the reader should refer:

  • Aerodromes. Description and classification ;

  • Airfields. Design ;

  • Aerodromes. Local data taken into account [C 4 452] ;

  • Airfields. Construction [ ] ;

  • Aerodromes. For further information .
