4. Aeronautical pavements

4.1 Special features of aeronautical pavements

Aeronautical pavements must have the same qualities of use as road pavements, but they are subject to a wide range of loads, both in terms of intensity and number (depending on the traffic and maneuvering zones, and the size of the airfields).

Indeed, the essential characteristics that differentiate these pavements and their surface layers are listed in the table 2 .

This difference in design is mainly reflected in a different choice of constituent and formulation characteristics, as well as an adaptation of application and control procedures.
