2. Instrumentation

When, for a given project, the existence of a compressible zone has been confirmed, earthwork volumes have been specified, in situ and laboratory tests have been carried out and interpreted, and deformations have been determined in terms of both magnitude and duration, then instrumentation to monitor deformations throughout the structure can and must be programmed.

This instrumentation will be used to monitor pore pressure in the subgrade soils, as well as vertical and horizontal displacements.

In addition, continuous monitoring and interpretation of the above parameters will enable :

  • validation of study hypotheses ;

  • adapt the project if necessary;

  • control the quantities to be used;

  • better...
