7. Urban expressways

Expressways in urban and peri-urban environments pose specific problems, which have led to their characteristics being defined in a special text, the ICTAVRU (Instruction sur les conditions techniques d'aménagement des voies rapides urbaines).

First published in 1990, the ICTAVRU was slightly revised in 1998, and more extensively in March 2009. .

Although it must be considered as currently in force, the very important reservations accompanying the 2009 edition must be mentioned:
