2. Concrete protection

2.1 Product features – Surface protection systems

When the steel coating is too porous and/or of insufficient thickness, or when the environment is particularly aggressive, it is often necessary to apply a concrete protection treatment. Such protection can also be applied after a repair to protect not only the repair itself, but also the rest of the structure.

For a given use, these products and product systems must satisfy one or more of the following functions:

• protection of concrete against penetration :

  • of gases (especially carbon dioxide, responsible for carbonation), measured by gas permeability,

  • of water vapour, measured by water vapour...
