Repair materials for concrete

There is a wide variety of materials available for repairing concrete structures, from the usual cementitious materials (CC) similar to the original concrete, to polymer-based materials (PC) and polymer-modified cementitious materials (PCC). The choice of a mortar or concrete from one of these categories depends on a number of factors, including processing conditions, exposure conditions and conditions of use of the structure.

The decision as to whether to use mortar or concrete depends essentially on the depth to be repaired.

Generally speaking, it's best to opt for the largest aggregate size compatible with the geometry of the repair, so as to minimize the quantity of paste and/or resin and reduce the risks of thermal and moisture cracking.
