Fire safety for fifth-category ERP buildings – Type PO buildings - Hotels

In addition to the general provisions for establishments open to the public (ERP), special rules must be applied to type PO establishments (fifth-category hotels), depending on the number of people admitted. This presentation distinguishes between :

• requirements applicable to establishments to be built or modified;

• requirements applicable to existing establishments, including the special case of very small hotels.

These rules mainly concern :

• lobbies and staircases ;

• alarm systems ;

• what to do in the event of fire.
