5. Cement identification

5.1 Designation and marking

Cements must be identified at least by their type (Roman numeral) and by a number indicating the strength class (e.g. 32.5). To indicate that the cement has a high early strength, the letter R is added. Any additional characteristics are indicated by a PMIES/CP symbol.

Example

CEM I 42.5 R PM is a Portland cement containing at least 95% clinker, class 42.5, with high early age strength and recognized as suitable for use at sea (figure 1 ).
