8. Calculation procedures for sub-systems (floor and wall)

These rules apply to load-bearing (R), separating (EI) and load-bearing and separating (REI) constructions. For the function (EI), they apply only for nominal fire resistances not exceeding 60 minutes.

Non-separating load-bearing structures must be designed for fire exposure on both sides at the same time. Rules are provided in Appendix D(I) for subsystems with cavities. For wall and floor assemblies with cavities totally filled with insulation, a calculation method is given in Appendix C(I).

In an analysis of the separative function, the contributions of the various materials and their location in the subsystem are taken into account (see Appendix E(I)).
