3.1 Safety requirements
The general objectives of fire protection are to limit risks to people, society, neighbouring properties and, where required, properties directly exposed in the event of fire.
In order to limit the risks associated with fire, the RPC has taken over the requirements established by the 89/106/EEC DPC, which stipulated that the structure must be designed and built in such a way that in the event of a fire declaration :
the load-bearing capacity of the construction can be maintained for a specific period of time;
the origin and spread of fire and smoke within the building are limited;
the spread of fire to neighbouring buildings...
