5. Conclusion
The physical characteristics of steel, such as color, density, melting point, thermal and electrical conductivity and dilatability, depend on its chemical composition and heat treatment. The dilatability of steel describes its capacity to expand or contract when subjected to temperature variations, and is expressed in terms of its coefficient of thermal expansion.
