From the simple hut of prehistoric times to the sumptuous villas of Antiquity, wood has been omnipresent throughout human history. There are several reasons for this: its production was naturally ensured by the growth of trees, and its transformation remained very simple before its use. There's no doubt that the wood industry began at the dawn of time, and that it took three forms: the equipment industry (with construction and tool-making), the agri-food industry (with gathering), and the energy industry (with fire).
Later, the timber construction industry experienced a profound slowdown with the advent of concrete, only to be reborn a few decades ago with the rise of societal concerns about our future...
