3. Physical properties of wood

Before unrolling the long list of properties, solid wood is a healthy, pleasant-smelling material that regulates ambient air very well, warding off allergy risks and respiratory disorders. Thanks to its constitution, wood has a breathing capacity unmatched by any other material, providing the home with natural ventilation.

3.1 Thermal resistance

The cellular structure of wood, consisting essentially of air-filled cavities, gives it excellent thermal insulation properties. On the other hand, parameters such as wood density, moisture content and the presence of knots significantly influence its thermal conductivity.

For the same thickness, wood is 15 times more insulating than concrete and 400 times more insulating than steel....
