14. CE marking and certification

Certification is voluntary, whereas CE marking is compulsory if the product complies with the regulations.

The CE mark is proof that a product complies with the requirements defined by standards and regulations, enabling it to be sold freely in France and Europe.

The CE marking decree for curtain walls is out. However, its scope is very limited. In fact, it concerns companies that design and, above all, manufacture a curtain wall without installation, intended to be sold from a catalog for any given building site. There are very few such companies in Europe.

Companies carry out a specific project, including installation, as part of a contract. They could possibly be involved if there were a contract for design and manufacture, and another contract for installation awarded to another company. However, this practice...
